Salamanca Place
Salamanca Place is a historic docks area of Hobart lined with a long row of simple Georgian sandstone warehouses built in the 1830s. These mellow north-facing buildings once stored grain, wool, whale oil, apples and imported goods from around the world. Rows of Georgian era sandstone warehouses that once serviced the ocean going clippers have been converted into a plaza of restaurants and shop, with pubs, artists, galleries, craft shops and nightlife adding to the relaxed atmosphere of the place after sundown.

Situated in an historical building in Salamanca Place, Maldini is an elegant and romantic mix of old and new. With beautiful chandeliers and walls adorned with modern original art work by, Tom Samek. Creating a very cosy relaxing dining room. Outside al fresco covered dining area, at pavement level, with comfortable seating. This restaurant lives up to its mission statement; "For Lovers of Fine Food, Wine, Art and Culture".

The location (an old warehouse) and its tasteful period decor creates a wonderful atmosphere for fine dining. There is an excellent range of mains - steaks are the house specialty - and a salad bar to ensure att diners with a big appetite won't go home hungry. A high class eating establishment that has a reputation for being one of the finest in town.

An airy and unpretentious space with lots of natural light, the Tricycle Cafe specialises in breakfasts and lunches; freshly baked goods and organic fair-trade coffee are menu staples. Tucked away in a quiet corner of the Salamanca Arts Centre complex in the foyer of the Peacock Theatre, this gorgeous little cafe serves great coffee (Five Senses) and excellent food.

Polished stone floors, wooden fittings, plenty of space, great music and friendly staff create a great atmosphere for a relaxing meal after a busy day. Smolt has an extensive Italian and Spanish influenced menu, the coffee is good as is the service, even when busy. This modern cafe/bar/eatery is one of the higher rated restaurants in Hobart, so booking beforehand is recommended, particularly for weekend dinners. Good food, casual atmosphere, friendly staff.
